Multi-Material Stewardship Western (MMSW) launched in 2016 to support collectors continue to manage recycling programs, providing up to 75% of net program costs of an efficient and effective residential recycling program.
As we transition to the SK Recycles full extended producer responsibility program over the 3-year transition period, collectors may continue to be paid under the terms of the MMSW program until the end of 2027, or they can join the SK Recycles program during the appropriate phase, depending on collector type.
Collectors operating their program with support from the MMSW shared responsibility funding model, will continue to operate under the terms of their current MMSW agreement. The MMSW shared responsibility funding model will no longer be available after December 2027.
